Job Description

Global Life Science Hub is seeking a skilled Sr. Medical Director based in the USA specialising in neuropsychiatry for an exciting opportunity with a leading biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of brain disease treatment innovation.

Our client, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, is dedicated to addressing the global brain disease crisis through a unique approach to drug development. They are currently focused on advancing multiple clinical and preclinical neuroscience programs targeting neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Supported by an integrated suite of tools, they aim to redefine neuroscience drug development by bringing forth novel therapies for improved patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of medical and scientific aspects of clinical studies, collaborating closely with teams in clinical operations and statistics to ensure rigorous study conduct.
  • Engage cross-functionally with discovery, biology, toxicology, translational, and data science teams to integrate precision medicine strategies into development programs.
  • Lead medical oversight of clinical programs, ensuring timely delivery of key milestones and prioritizing patient safety.
  • Act as the primary medical expert for assigned studies and the point of contact for internal and external inquiries.
  • Monitor study progress, conduct data reviews, and present updates and findings to senior management.
  • Contribute to regulatory document preparation and responses to regulatory agencies on clinical development issues.
  • Collaborate on the development of clinical plans, integrating pre-clinical and early clinical findings.
  • Assist in developing translational and precision phenotyping strategies for rigorous study design.
  • Identify and engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to address scientific and medical questions.
  • Assist in identifying global study sites and establishing relationships with investigators.
  • Ensure proper reporting of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) and adhere to clinical R&D policies and SOPs.
  • Support due diligence of potential drug candidates and technologies.

Requirements:

  • MD/DO required; Ph.D. and/or board certification in psychiatry or neurology preferred.
  • Experience in neuropsychiatric or neurodegenerative fields is required.
  • Active medical license desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Medical Director in biotech or pharmaceuticals, with oversight of Phase 2 and 3 studies.
  • Strong leadership in medical and scientific aspects of clinical studies.
  • Ability to critically review and analyze clinical study conduct, including research design and outcome measures.
  • Phase 1 clinical study experience desirable.
  • Effective communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and with distributed teams.
  • Startup experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complexity and make risk-based decisions.
